Steps to Becoming a True Laser Certified™ Technician

If you are searching for how to become a laser technician, seeking out the necessary nursing degree and certifications to work at Body Details is well worth it. At Body Details, we are so much more than just another MedSpa. That’s because we’re not a MedSpa at all. While many other chains and facilities will staff estheticians as laser technicians, at Body Details we only hire master’s degree holding Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to complete laser treatments for our patients.

As part of the True Laser Certified™ program, no one but a master’s degree holding medical professional will ever perform treatment. We believe that this provides the safest environment for patients, as well as the most effective results. Additionally, to be a True Laser Certified™ laser technician there are several other criteria an individual must meet. Each qualifying factor of the True Laser Certified™ program is then evaluated by an independent, not-for-profit body.

What Is a True Laser Certified™ Laser Technician?

The highest standards for laser treatment never existed within the industry before–so here at Body Details, we created them. This includes ensuring that each of our laser technicians is True Laser Certified™. A True Laser Certified™ laser technician is a master’s degree holding nurse or medical professional who has undergone extensive training by Body Details’ medical experts, the laser manufacturers, and then complete a review and evaluation by an independent body to ensure they uphold the highest standards of care.

What Types of Procedures Can You Perform?

Once you become a True Laser Certified™ provider you can complete all of the procedures that Body Details offers to patients. These procedures include the best permanent hair removal on virtually any area of the body, laser tattoo removal, laser scar reduction, laser skin rejuvenation, and laser fat reduction.

Whether you are helping a patient to reach their weight loss goals or to minimize the appearance of old acne scars, you can feel great about your work knowing that you are enabling people to look and feel their very best. As a True Laser Certified™ laser technician, you give individuals the gift of confidence and self-love, body positivity, and happiness.

Steps to become a True Laser Certified™ Laser Technician

When examining how to become a laser technician for Body Details, you may be just starting out on your education journey or looking for alternate routes to explore with your master’s degree in nursing. Whether you’re embarking on a new adventure in education or are well-established in your field, here is how to become a laser technician for Body Details.

Step 1: Complete a Four-Year Degree in Nursing

First, you will need to complete a four-year nursing degree, and obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). You can either obtain an Associate Degree and become a Registered Nurse (RN) first, or take the four-year route initially.

You will also need to complete a specified number of clinical hours, which are in-person healthcare and patient care hours you complete at a facility such as a hospital. These hours may be referred to as HCE or PCE hours, and to enter an APRN or PA program after you obtain your BSN you will need approximately 1,000 HCE/PCE hours that are board-approved.

Step 2: Complete a Master’s Degree

Next, to become an APRN or PA you will need to complete a Master of Science in Nursing degree or an MSN. These academic programs may take anywhere from two to four years to complete after you obtain a BSN and will require more HCE or PCE hours in addition to scholastic coursework.

Step 3: Pass National Certification Exams

After you complete your Master of Science in Nursing degree and hold state certification as a Registered Nurse, you will need to pass further certification exams to advance your credentials. To become an APRN or PA you will need to pass exams at a national board. Each state has different licensing requirements, so be sure to check with the state in which you reside.

Step 4: Undergo the Appropriate Laser Training

To become a True Laser Certified™ laser technician as an APRN or PA you will need to undergo training with the laser manufacturers to ensure that you are a true expert in the field. You will also participate in training with the Body Details’ medical experts.

After your training is complete, the True Laser Certified™ review board will evaluate your training log and issue an approval. It is only after you receive this board review that you can be a True Laser Certified™ laser technician at Body Details.

Step 5: Keep Up with Trainings

Learning how to become a laser technician is about more than obtaining a degree and going through a bit of training with the laser manufacturers. At Body Details, we uphold the highest standards of practice in the industry and pride ourselves on being experts in regard to the newest and most innovative laser equipment and technology.
